Victorian Blue Glazed Tile
The Victorian blue glazed tile is the ideal choice of colour for Victorian styles.
This tile has a number of options and possible uses:
– 6”x6” single tiles can be used as center hearth tiles or within fireplace panels
– 3”x6” half tiles
– 2”x6” quarter tiles
– Round edge tiles can be used along the edge of a hearth
– Round edge corner tile can be used as the corner bend of a hearth
Glazed Tiles
Glazed tiles are ideal for use in front of gas and electric fires. However, the glaze can be scratched by fire tools, coal scuttles etc, so care is required where they are specified for use near coal or wood fires. No guarantee can be given against scratching.
Fireplace Tiles
The Victorian and Edwardian tile was very much a feature of the fire within the room, and was often vivid in colour with stunning designs. This could be as simple as a coloured embossed tile, to a run of tiles depicting many different scenes or images. From floral to symmetry, to simply unusual. Once the fire was lit these tiles would glow and the picture seen was so enticing.
When the Art Nouveau period arrived this style reached its way to all the accessories of a stylish home which very much included the tiles of the fire. They were awash with elegant curves, shapes and colours and would finish off that wonderful period image.
