Original Slate Fireplace Surround
As you can see from the photos this Slate Surround has been fully restored which includes stripping, buffing, blacking with Stovax grate polish & then buffed up to that beautiful shiny finish which highlights all the detail. On display here with one of our Fireplace inserts. If the insert is already sold, you can always pick another from our site if you still want the full package.

Marble & Slate Surrounds
Marble & Slate have been used in the the design of many modern and antique fire surrounds for the past 400 years. Although not the easiest material to manufacture from its beautiful range of natural colours, durability and superb finishes, it was made popular with the middle class and aristocracy who could afford such luxuries. Marble & Slate antique fireplaces have stood the test of time despite fashions forever changing. Designs from the Edwardian, Victorian and Georgian periods are very popular today. No wonder many reproduction fireplaces today are still based on these designs.
Uses
– Can be used with Solid Fuel (wood burning etc), which will require a specialized Hearth due to regulations. For this use we advice you to also select the Ashpan & Solid Fuel grate on the ‘optional addons‘ above.
– Can be used with a Gas Effect, which will require a Gas Burner Tray and a specialized Hearth. For this use we advice you to also select one of the Gass Fire Effects on the ‘optional addons‘ above.
– Can be used as just Decoration, as is.
