5¾ x 5¾ Inch Black Quarry Tile Hearth
These quarry tiles are made from pure porcelain, and have proved very popular for use in hearths. This is due to their great durability, appearance and texture. The matt finish of the tiles especially suits cast iron products. The hearth will be grouted in a dark grey unless otherwise directed.
Our standard quarry tiled hearth has a usual thickness of 50mm (2 inches), which is the building regulations minimum for most fireplace applications. If the hearths are made thinner than 2 inches they will begin to have insufficient strength to support a prefabricated product.
For stoves fitting into an existing fire opening, the back hearth section will need to be made slightly smaller than the width of the opening, and we can work to tolerances of plus or minus 3mm.
Colours
Available in three standard colours – Black, off White, and Terracotta.
We can look into other colours of this unglazed porcelain tile upon request (contact us).
Hearth Size
We have provided a number of commonly ordered sizes for quick online purchasing, however you can order any size with us via email so please get in touch if they are not suitable for you.
Kick Back (Tongue)
The hearths come in a rectangular shape as standard. A kick back (also known as a tongue/T section) can be added for where the fireplace opening is recessed behind the front of the chimney breast. The tiling of the kick does not extend right to the back of the fire – only so far that the back edge of the tiles is hidden from view in normal operation of the fire. Smaller sized hearths will generally come with a 26″ x 6″ sized tongue, while larger ones will measure at 30″ x 6″. There is the option to add this above.
